Hannah

Fiber: Hannah's Hats are made from a mixture of natural and synthetic yarns with a variety of textures, colors and dye patterns. No two hats are identical. For the base color in her hats she usually uses local yarns spun from lambs wool, mohair, sheep's wool, alpaca and lama, and for the embellishments she uses anything from ribbon yarns, to chenille's, to boucle.

Hannah learned how to knit from her mother when she was 6 or 7 years old.  She knitted often on the long van rides to ski races throughout high school and college.  She has made hats for various ski teams and members of the US national Ski and Snowboarding teams and the US Biathlon Teams. Seth Wescott of the US Snowboard Team and winner of the first Snowboarder Cross Olympic Goal Medal, and Rachel Steer of the US Biathlon Team, are two such individuals. She has created quite a fad with her hats at the Eastern Ski Mountains of Sugarloaf USA and Sunday River USA, with some individuals owning 3 or 4 hats. All owners claim to have warm noggins!

Glass: Hannah's unique glass pieces are made from used and recycled glass, a way to make junk or trash become something new and valuable again. She uses the special reflective, transluscent, and color qualities that glass can offer when making jewelry, sushi sets and dinnerware, candleholders, boxes, bells,  and suncatchers.  She incorporates the concept of Color Therapy in making and selling her work.

Color Therapy:
We know that each color found in the visible light spectrum has its own wavelength and its own frequency, which stimulates humans in certain ways.It is proven that plants have different growth habits when exposed to light rays of varying wavelengths. Some rays can be dangerous if we are exposed to them, but the visible light, the rainbow, can have a soothing, nutritive effect on us, like it does with plants.

Each color is connected to various areas of our body and will affect us emotionally, physically, and mentally. This is incorporated in the Chakra Systems and Maitri Systems of Eastern Religions. By learning how each color influences us individually, we can effectively use color to give us an extra boost of energy (or calm us down) when we need it.
